Denny E. Worthen, 78, WWII US Army Veteran

Denny E. Worthen, 78 of Lorain died on Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at Kingston Of Vermilion in Vermilion, OH following a brief illness.

Mr. Worthen was born on July 18, 1926 in Murphysboro, IL and has lived in the Lorain area since the late 1940's.

He was a US Army veteran serving during WW II. He was a retired carman with the B & O Railroad. He was an active member of the Division 9, Flotilla 04 in the Coast Guard Auxiliary for 38 years. He currently held the rank of Division 9 Vice Captain.

Mr. Worthen is survived by his niece: Rebecca Worthen of Toledo; nephews Donn Worthen of Wellington, Timothy J. Craig and Barry Craig both of Lorain.

He is preceded in death by his wife: Geraldine (nee Gorr) Worthen in 1992; his parents Simon H. and Permelia J. (nee Gray) Worthen; and a sister: Dorothy Craig.

Friends may call at Schwartz Spence Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, OH, on Tuesday, September 21, 2004 from 4-7 p.m. The Coast Guard Auxiliary will provide honors during visitation.

Funeral services will be held on September 22, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6th and Washington St. in Lorain, OH, with Rev. Jimmy Madsen, co-pastor of First Lutheran Church, officiating.

Denny E. Worthen will be buried at Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Amherst Twp., OH with full military honors provided by VFW Post 451.
