Mildred Agnes Charny, 81, Loved to Crochet

Mildred Agnes Charny (nee: Patren), 81 years of age and a resident of Amherst, passed away Friday, September 23, 2004, at Welcome Nursing Home, Oberlin following a lengthy illness.

She was born June 20, 1923, in Danbury, Connecticut, where she was raised and lived until she married in 1942. She had lived in Amherst since 1969.

Mildred was a homemaker and loved to crochet. She was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in South Amherst.

Survivors include her sons, Ronald M. Charny of North Ridgeville, Albert L. Charny of Fairborn, OH and Ray D. Charny of Amherst; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; her brothers, Edward Patren of Bridgeport, Conn., Matthew Patren of Danbury, Conn.; her sister, Ann Kurkul of Danbury, Conn.

She was preceded by her husband of 57 years, Albert L. Charny in 1999 and her sisters, Pauline Huhlefeld, Mary Gurski and Sophie Gutowski; her brother, Joe Patren and her parents, Joseph and Ann (nee Smierciak) Patren.

Final prayers will be held Monday, September 27, 2004, at 9:30 a.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Avenue, Amherst. Funeral services will follow at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 333 South Lake Street, South Amherst at 10 a.m. Rev. Fr. Denis St. Marie, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in South Amherst, Ohio.
