Jean D. Pallinger, 88, Avid Bridge player
Jean D. Pallinger (nee Harler), age 88, of Avon Lake, Ohio passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at Lakewood Hospital following a short illness.Jean was born July 31, 1916 in Cleveland and moved to Avon Lake 58 years ago from Cleveland. She resided most recently at Independence Village, Avon Lake.
Mrs. Pallinger was a graduate of John Adams High School, Cleveland. When her children were older she began her career working as a secretary for her husband, who owned Firelands Distributors. She later worked for Manor Care Nursing Home, North Olmsted and retired from Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Avon. Jean was a longtime member of the Avon Lake United Church of Christ and the Redwood Bridgerama, a bridge club team. In addition to being an avid bridge player, she was a seamstress and pianist.
Mrs. Pallinger is survived by a son, Ron (Janet) of Avon Lake; three daughters, Jill O'Neill (Shaun) of Phoenix, Arizona; Jacki Parker and Bonnie Aytch (Richard) both of Atlanta, Georgia; eight grandchildren: Corey, Ryan and Julie Pallinger; Brock and Rory O'Neill, Ben and Garth Biggar and Christian Aytch; two great-grandchildren: Lindsey and William Biggar; and a sister, Lois Cammock of Willoughby.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Al; parents, Arthur and Ada (nee Webb) Harler; a brother, Howard Harler and a sister, Ruth James.
A memorial service will be held at the Avon Lake United Church of Christ, 32801 Electric Blvd. Avon Lake on Saturday, November 6 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Kelly Peters will officiate. Burial will be private at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
