Lowell Clarence Frederick, 71, US Army Veteran

He was born July 24, 1933 in Trosberg, Kentucky where he was raised. South Amherst has been his home for the last twenty-four years.

He served two years in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed by the Lorain Assembly Plant of the Ford Motor Corp. for thirty years, retiring as an electrical inspector.

After his retirement he worked part-time at G&G Auto Parts in Amherst. He played lead guitar with the West Virginia Cut Ups, the Harbour Town Grass, The Haynes Family and at his church.

He was a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Amherst. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Kentucky basketball, nature, and astronomy.

Survivors include his wife of twenty-four years Willie Jean Frederick (nee: Maynes); his sons Brian Shelton of Westerville, Ohio and Howard Frederick of Vermilion; his daughters Patty Laughlin and Jeanette Hinkle, both of South Amherst; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; his brother Arnold Frederick of Lorain; and his sisters Mae Roark of Jeffersonville, Indiana and Jewell Griffith of Amherst.

He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Letha Frederick (nee: Goley); by his brothers Ken, Vernon, and J.D. Frederick; and by his sisters Viola Jones and Dona Matlock.

Friends may call Wednesday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services with Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard will be held Thursday at 12 p.m. from the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church; 9457 Baumhart Rd, Amherst. The Rev. Harold Taylor, pastor of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, and Rev. Ferrell Keith, pastor of Old Fashioned Grace Baptist Church in South Amherst will officiate.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church; 9457 Baumhart Rd., Amherst, 44001.
