Vlasta Gnizak, 97, Seamstress; Had Family Farm

Vlasta Gnizak (nee Homolka), 97, of Lorain, died Wednesday March 16, 2005 at her home after a brief illness.

She was born November 8, 1907 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Amherst Township & Lorain area resident.

Mrs. Gnizak worked at Goodall & Richman Brothers as a seamstress for many years and on the family farm on Oberlin Road in Amherst Township.

She was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in South Amherst and enjoyed cooking.

Mrs. Gnizak was a foster parent for several children and she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her son John Gnizak of Sheffield Village, daughter Marianne Clark of North Olmsted, 15 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Gnizak in 1962, foster sons Steve Wuitowicz and Joseph Wuitowicz, sisters Rose O’Shea and Anna Bonk and brother Wesley Homolka.

The family will receive friends Saturday, March 19, 2005, 11:00 AM until the time of funeral services at 1:00 PM at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Denis St. Marie, pastor of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in South Amherst will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to New Life Hospice, 5255 N. Abbe Rd., Elyria, OH. 44035.
