Burley Edgel, Jr., 78, of Margaretta Township, died Sunday March 20, 2005 at his home after a lengthy illness.He was born October 10, 1926 in Wheeling, West Virginia and had resided in Margaretta Township for the last 5 years moving from Lorain.
Burley worked at US Steel in Lorain in the Open Hearth and BOP Shop as an electrical maintenance man for 40 years before retiring.
He was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain and was a member and past vice president of the former South Amherst Fish and Game Club. He enjoyed camping, hiking through the woods and was an avid fan of WWF wrestling.
HE is survived by his wife of 57 years Alice Edgel (nee Fritz); daughter Mila Kochheiser of Lorain and Debra Charnock of Sandusky, son Donald Edgel of Lorain, 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, sister Anna Mae Kociban of Wheeling, West Virginia and brother Thomas Egel of Wheeling, West Virginia. He was preceded by his sons George Edward Edgel and Burley William Edgel, Jr. and brothers Fred Edgel and George Edgel.
The family will receive friends Wednesday 3-5, 7-9 PM at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Thursday in the funeral chapel at 9:30 am followed by the funeral liturgy at 10:00 am at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Kenneth Wolnowski, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park Amherst Township with military honors conducted by the Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter #20 of Lorain.
