Marvin Hunker, 77, Lifelong Amherst Resident

Marvin Hunker, 77 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away March 24, 2005 at EHM Regional Medical Center following a long illness.

He was born August 19, 1927 in Lorain, Ohio. He was a lifelong resident of Lorain-Amherst area.

Mr. Hunker worked as a barber at Bakers Barber shop in Lorain. He was the founder of Hunker Real Estate in Lorain in 1968. He served in the U.S. Navy during the World War II on the USS Wisconsin. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1662 and American Legion Post #118 both of Amherst. He enjoyed yard work and family get togethers. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years Louise Hunker (nee: Amato); his brother Merle Hunker.

Friends may call Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Closing Prayers will be held on Tuesday, March 29,2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel at St. Joseph Catholic Church; 200 St. Joseph Dr., Amherst followed by the Christian Mass in the Sanctuary at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Fr. Lawrence Martello, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, will officiate. Military Honors will be provided by the Lorain D.A.V. Louis Paul Proy Disables American Veterans #20. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
