William "Bill" J. Hrivnak, 93, Salesman

He was born November 25, 1911 in Cleveland, he has been a Vermilion resident for the past 31 years moving from Cleveland.

Mr. Hrivnak retired from Sears & Roebuck Co., Cleveland, where he worked as a salesman. He had owned his own business putting vending machine in movie theaters, worked as a butcher for Hrivnak's Grocery Store in Cleveland which his parents owned, and had also worked for General Electric.

He was a member of Dr. Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brooklyn, where he had been very active on many boards and committees including the building committee and past president of the church. He was Past Master of Thatcher Masonic Lodge Chapter # 101 in Cleveland where he was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was also a member of Ely Masonic Lodge #424 in Vermilion. He volunteered on the board at Volunteer Bay, Vermilion where he participated in many activities.

He loved to do yard work and was the caretaker of the gardens at Ritter Public Library, Vermilion for many years. He was an avid bowler, participating on several leagues including the American Legion league. He had participated in many activities with the SEU a Slovak organization in Cleveland. He enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians, fishing, boating, and reading.

Survivors include one daughter, Betty Ann Villwock of Folsom, CA ; 3 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 1 brother in law; 1 sister in law; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Ella Hrivnak in 2004, parents, John and Anna (nee Struhar) Hrivnak, and a sister, Adella Sentena.

Friends may call Monday, March 28, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. The Ely Lodge #424 will conduct Masonic Services at 7 pm.

Memorial Services will be held Tuesday March 29, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Dr. Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4470 Ridge Rd. Brooklyn, OH with Pastor David Bennett officiating. Private interment will be held in Brooklyn Heights Cemetery.
