Josephine Kurta, 96, Homemaker

She was born July 8, 1908 in Breza, Czechoslovakia, moved to Lorain in 1947 and had resided in Summerville for the past 10 years.

Josephine was a former member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lorain and the church Rosary Society.

She is survived by her sons Michael Kurta of Lorain and Joseph Kurta of Richland, Washington, daughter Helen Deck of Summerville, South Carolina; 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Michael Kurta in 1953, parents Joseph & Marisha Matejcik (nee Mihal) and brother Stefan Matejcik.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of funeral services at 10:30 a.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. The Holy Trinity Altar & Rosary Society will pray the rosary Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel. The mass of Christian Burial will follow on Thursday at 11:00 a.m at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2428 Elyria Ave., Lorain. The Rev. David A. Novak, pastor, will officiate.

Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
