Robert Williams, 83, Active in the Masonic Order
Robert Williams, age 83, of Lorain, died Monday, March 28, 2005 at the Anchor Lodge Nursing Home following an extended illness.Mr. Williams was born in Lorain on July 12, 1921 and had been a life-long resident of the city.
He was a 1939 graduate of Lorain High School and went on to serve as a Petty Officer in the United States Navy during World War II where he fulfilled duty assignments in Okinawa, Japan as well as China.
A member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Lorain, he was employed as a building inspection for the City of Lorain for more than twenty years; he retired in 1986.
Robert was extremely active in the Masonic Order and was a 32nd Degree Mason with Lorain Lodge #552 F. & A.M., as well as a member, Past Commander, and Recorder of Lorain Commandery #65. He was also involved with Lorain Lodge #66 of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include a son, Craig Lee Williams of Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania, and a daughter, Dawnn Lynn Barbour of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Dorothy L. (nee McMillan) Williams in 2002, by a son: Robert Wayne Williams, by his father: Jesse James Williams in 1922, by his mother: Sara (nee Buxton) Williams in 1977 and a brother: Leonard Williams.
Friends may call Friday, April 1, 2005 from 5 to 9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain where Masonic Services will be conducted by Lorain Commandery #65 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in the funeral chapel with Reverend Darlene Robinson, pastor of both Faith United Methodist Church and Emmanuel United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
