James L. Bardoner, 86, American Crucible Products President
James L. Bardoner, 86 of Avon Lake died on Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at St. John West Shore Hospital in Westlake, OH unexpectedly.Mr. Bardoner was born on August 17, 1918 in Lorain, OH and moved to Avon Lake in 1990. He was a graduate of Lorain High School Class of 1936B. He was a member of the St. John's United Church Of Christ.
Mr. Bardoner had been the president of the former American Crucible Products, later known as Dorn Industries. He retired in 1984 after 47 1/2 years of service. He was a director at Lorain National Bank for 25 years, trustee at Lorain Community Hospital for 17 years with 8 years as chairman of the board from 1984-1992. He was a trustee for Lorain County Community College Foundation serving one year as president. He served as a trustee for the Lorain Public Library for 10 years and as campaign manager and president of the United Way of Greater Lorain County.
Mr. Bardoner was a member of the Northern Ohio Industrial Council and the Lorain County Manufacturers Council. He was a former member of the Elyria Country Club and the Avon Lake Kiwanis.
Mr. Bardoner enjoyed gardening, golf, sports and assisting his wife in care giving.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruth B. (nee Arndt) Bardoner and several nieces, and grand nieces and nephews.
Mr. Bardoner is preceded in death by his parents James R. and Edith M. (nee Kutza) Bardoner, brothers Ralph Bardoner and Richard Bardoner and one niece.
Private burial services will be held in Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Amherst Township, Ohio.
