Dorothy Maravich, 90, Beautician
Dorothy Maravich (nee Ralich), age 90, of Lorain, died Saturday April 2, 2005 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center following a twelve-week illness.Mrs. Maravich was born March 9, 1915 in Lorain and had been a life-long resident.
She attended Lorain High School and went on to graduate from the Ellsworth School of Beauty Culture in Cleveland. She was a licensed beautician for forty-nine years serving as a cosmetologist for the former Moore’s Beauty Shop as well as Jessel’s Beauty Shop; she also maintained a salon in her own home.
Dorothy was a life-long member of Saint George Serbian Orthodox Church where she served as choir director for many years and was a former member of the Circle of Serbian Sisters. She was also a member of the Serbian National Fraternity Lodge # 66.
Mrs. Maravich loved music and cooking for her family . especially Sunday dinners.
Survivors include her daughter: Mrs. Steven (Simone) Gall of Amherst, son Robert with whom she made her home in Lorain, and granddaughters: Julie Gall of Amherst and Melanie Gall of Dublin, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Rudy Bob Maravich, her parents: Eli and Helen (nee Vukelich) Ralich, and a sister: Dessie Kekich.
Visitation will be Monday, April 4, 2005, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel 3224 Broadway Lorain where a Pomen service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Friends may also call Tuesday in Saint George Serbian Orthodox Church 2210 East 33rd Street - Lorain from 9:30 a.m. until time of funeral liturgy at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Milorad Orlich, pastor of Saint George Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery Lorain.
The family suggests memorials in Mrs. Maravich’s memory to either St. George Serbian Orthodox Church 2210 East 33rd Street Lorain, Ohio 44055, to the Lorain County Free Clinic East 33rd & Pearl Avenue Lorain, Ohio 44055, or to the Amherst Community Chorus.
