John Gustav Pajer, 85, United States Steel Retiree

John Gustav Pajer, age 85, of Lorain and Montverde, Florida, died April 4, 2005 at The Commons in Orlando, Florida.

Born July 20, 1919 in Lorain, Mr. Pajer was a graduate of Lorain High School Class of 1937B.

A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp., he proudly served during WWII in the Pacific winning several medals.

Mr. Pajer was an electrician in the #4 Seamless at United States Steel, retiring after 43 years of distinguished service where he qualified for many awards.

He was very active in his church, SS. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church in Lorain, where he was Vice President of church council and member of the Psalms and Prayers Bible Group, and a former Sunday School teacher. He was President of Joy Seniors of the church and led the group in many interesting bus trips and activities. He was a member of the Lighthearted Social Club and on the board of the Slovenian Home.

John enjoyed traveling, reading the bible, camping, playing cards, his garden and friends. For 24 seasons, he spent the winters at Woodlands Lutheran Camp, Montverde, Florida, and was an associate member of Woodlands Lutheran Church. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved the Lord with all his heart.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Victoria (nee Kumse), daughter: Vida Ann Schultz and husband Terry of Orlando, Florida, son: Craig J. Pajer and wife, Delores of Naples, Florida, Four Grandchildren, One Great Granddaughter, brothers: Jerry Pajer of Sheffield Lake, Andrew Pajer of Fremont, and Arnold Pajer of Vermilion, sisters: Helen Duran of Lorain and Betty Crawford of Elyria, and five God children.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Anna, Mildred Suster, Suzanne Kovac and brother, George.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 8, 2005, from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain. Friends may also call Saturday in Ss. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church, 1500 Lincoln Blvd., Lorain from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. The Rev. Edgar Anthony, pastor, will officiate. Internment will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Ss. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church or to Lutheran Haven, 2041 W. State Rd. 426, Oviedo, FL 32765.
