John M. Demyan, 52, Raced Stock Cars, Worked for County Engineer

John M. Demyan, 52, of Elyria Township, died Wednesday April 6, 2005 at his home.

He was born December 28, 1952 in Lorain and had resided in the Lorain County area all of his life.

John was a graduate of Midview High School. He worked for the Lorain County Engineer for 37 years retiring as a foreman.

John raced stock cars at Dragway 42, Lorain County Speedway and Norwalk Raceway. He was an avid fan of NASCAR, the Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes football. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst and enjoyed working on cars and making models of cars.

He is survived by his wife of 10 years Gina (nee Zocchi), daughter Rhonda McCown of Williamsport, Ohio, sons: John Michael Demyan, Jr. of Elyria, Jessie Michael Demyan at home and Jordan Lee Demyan at home, 4 grandchildren, mother Ruth Demyan (nee Spanos) of Avon Lake and brother Greg Demyan of Elyria. He was preceded in death by his father John Demyan.

The family will receive friends Friday, April 8, 2005, from 3-9 PM at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:15 AM followed by the mass of Christian burial Saturday at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst. The Rev. Joseph Warner, associate pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
