Elizabeth Bertha Holtz, 66, Assembler
Elizabeth Bertha Holtz (nee: Walker), 66 years of age, and a resident of Ft. Myers, Florida and formerly of Vermilion, passed away Friday, April 8, 2005 at Cape Coral Hospital in Florida.She was born February 1, 1939 in Kenova, West Virginia where she was raised. Vermilion was her home since age 16 moving to Ft. Myers nine years ago.
She was employed by the Lorain Plant of Ford Motor Corp. for seventeen years retiring in 1991 as an assembler. Elizabeth was a former member of St. John United Church of Christ in South Amherst. During her children’s early years, she volunteered with the Boy Scouts. She enjoyed fishing, bowling, playing cards, traveling, orchid and flower gardening.
Survivors include her husband of forty-eight years, Robert Holtz, Sr.; her mother Anna Walker (nee: Marcum) of Ft. Myers, Florida; her sons Roy Holtz of Ft. Myers, Florida and Ryan Holtz of Elyria; her daughters Rhonda Hill of Elyria, Robin Phillips of Ft. Myers, Florida, Rhea Mankin of Vermilion and Robbie Kohart of Lorain, seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son Robert Bobby Holtz, Jr. on May 27, 1969 at age eleven; by her father Roy Walker, Sr., and by her brother Frank Walker.
Friends may call Wednesday, April 13, 2005 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Avenue, Amherst. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. from the funeral home. The Rev. Chuck Keesee, pastor of Midway Baptist Church in Elyria will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
