Helen Radke, 88, Enjoyed Knitting and Cooking
Helen C. Radke (nee Dorsz), age 88, of Lorain, died Monday, April 11, 2005 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain following a short illness.She was born on November 27, 1916 in Lorain, Ohio where she had lived most of her life. She also lived in Long Beach, California from 1941-1946.
She was a graduate of Lorain High School and attended Bowling Green State University. She worked for the Lorain City Income Tax Office, General Industries in Elyria and the Higbee Company at the Elyria Midway Mall. She was a member of the VFW Post 451 Ladies Auxillary, a Woman of the Moose Chapter 167 and PERI Chapter 83. She enjoyed knitting, cooking and traveling and was a Cleveland Indians fan.
She is survived by her son Lawrence Radke, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Pam of Lorain; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded-in-death by her husband, Lawrence Radke, Sr. in 1996, parents, Ignatius and Katherine (nee Glowicki) Dorsz and brothers, Anthony, Clarence, Frank, Joe and Leo.
Friends may call Wednesday, April 13, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Dombrowski-Volak-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio.
They will also be received on Thursday, April 14, 2005 from 10:00 am until the time of services at 10:30 am at the funeral home. The Reverend Robert J. Glepko, pastor of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Lorain, will be officiating. Interment will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
