Emma Marie Dieterich, 83, Offered Time To Area Oragnizations
Emma Marie Dieterich, (nee Simonic), age 83, of Lorain, died Wednesday April 13, 2005 at the Elyria United Methodist Village following an extended illness.Mrs. Dieterich was born May 8, 1921 in Lorain and had been a life-long resident of the city.
She was a graduate of Lorain High School as a member of the Class of 1939. A parishioner of the Catholic Church of Saint Peter in Lorain, Emma served as an Eucharistic Minister there and was also affiliated with the Congregation of the Sacred Heart. A member of Slovenian Women’s Union # 40, her hobbies included oil painting, crafting, and sewing. She contributed countless hours of assistance in producing the quilt that was raffled off each summer at the Saint Peter Parish Festival. She was also known for her accomplishments in the areas of cooking and baking. Mrs. Dieterich also devoted volumes of her time as a volunteer with the Meals On Wheels Program, as well as the 8th Street Hunger Center in Lorain and took great pride in teaching artistic painting techniques to the students enrolled at Saint Peter Parish School. She formerly served as a volunteer at the Oak Hills Nursing Home in Lorain as well .
She is survived by her husband of sixty-three years: William Wayne Dieterich, by daughters: Kathleen Dieterich of Hygiene, Colorado, Jayne Dieterich of Denver, Colorado, Elayne Popovich of Crown Point, Indiana, sons: William A. and John Jack both of Longmont, Colorado, and Eric of Ashville, Ohio, thirteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and a brother: Albin Al Simonic of Euclid, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Anton and Angela (nee Petrasic) Simonic, a brother: James, and sisters: Mary Koziura and Angeline Belu.
V isitation will be Sunday, April 17, 2005, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel 3224 Broadway Lorain. Funeral services will be Monday beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by the celebration of funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. in the Catholic Church of Saint Peter 3501 Oberlin Avenue Lorain. The Reverend Kenneth Wolnowski, pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery Lorain.
