George Charles Price, 77, Carpenter and General Contractor

George Charles Price, 77 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at New Life Hospice Residential Center in Lorain following a lengthy illness.

He was born February 22, 1928 in Cape Vincent, New York. He was raised in Cape Vincent, New York and Lorain. He made his home in Lorain for the last fifty-one years.

He served in the U.S. Army. George was a carpenter and general contractor his entire life starting in his youth and owned and operated Price Construction Company which served both residential and commercial areas for over fifty years. In addition to the construction, he made fine crafted cabinets. He worked for the Lorain Journal in maintenance for twelve years, retiring in 1972. He was a member of ST. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-three years, Mary A. Price (nee: Evans); his sons Joseph T. Price of Sandusky, David C. Price of Lorain, his daughters Deborah E. Gray of Heflin, Alabama, Faye M. Krafcik of Parma, Donna C. Tjotjos of North Ridgeville, seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren, his brother Thomas E. Price of Lorain, his sisters Dorothy Hinckley of Cape Vincent, New York, Catherine Allen of Vroohes, New Jersey; Joan Gosier of Cape Vincent, New York.

He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph R. and Genevieve Price (nee: Fraley); his brothers Richard Price, Francis Price, his sisters Beatrice Branche, Margaret Mannigan and Carol Rothoff.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 22, 2005 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Avenue, Amherst. A memorial service will follow on Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Fr. Joseph Warner, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Vincent of Paul Catholic Cemetery, Village of Cape Vincent, New York.
