Georgena Mae Boylan, 87, Dental Assistant and Keypunch Verifier

Georgena Mae Boylan (nee: Kritzel), 87 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at Community Health Partners H & S Center in Lorain following a sudden illness.

She was born October 4, 1917 in Elyria where she was raised and graduated from Elyria High School. She made her home in Fairview Park for five years before moving to Amherst in 1957.

In addition to being a homemaker, she worked for her brother-in-law, Dr. Theodore V. Boylan, as a dental assistant for ten years. She later worked as a keypunch verifier for Nickle Plat Railroad. Georgena was a past member of Amherst Sandstone Nursing and for many years was a member of the Lorain Family Y. She was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst and worked in Amherst elections as presiding judge.

Survivors include her son Brian Boylan of Amherst, and her daughter Dr. Sharon Boylan of Davis, California.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Boylan in 1995; by her parents George and Florence Kritzel (nee: Moulton); and by her brothers Clarence Kritzel and Wilson Kritzel.

Friends may call Sunday, May 1, 2005 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Avenue, Amherst. Closing prayers will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10 a.m. from St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst. The Rev. Fr. Lawrence Martello, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Elyria.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church Renovation Fund; 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst, Ohio 44001.
