Michael "Mychaylo" Kornienko, 80, Receiving Manager

He was born July 15, 1924 in Myrhorod, Ukraine. He had been a Lorain resident for 48 years.

Mr. Kornienko retired as receiving manager of May Company Department Store in Sheffield Township in 1988. he worked there for 31 years.

Mr. Kornienko was the choir director and a active member of Saint Mary Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Lorain. He was also a member of the Ukrainian National Association of New York.

Among the survivors are his wife of 58 years Vera Kornienko; daughters Lidia Hashier and Kata Nott both of Sheffield Lake, Olga Boney and Larissa Kornienko both of Houston, Texas and Helen Day of Littleton, Colorado; six grandchildren and a brother Volodymir of Myrhorod, Ukraine.

He was preceded in death by his parents Wasyl and Elizabeth Kornienko and a sister Vera.

Friends may call Friday, April 30, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, Ohio, where Parastas service will be Friday evening at 8:00PM. Funeral service will be Saturday 10:30 AM in the funeral home followed by service in St Mary Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 2304 East 34th Street, Lorain. The Rev. Vasil Shtelen, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
