Theodore C. Stefaniak, 85, Enjoyed League Bowling
Theodore C. Stefaniak, 85 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Friday, may 6, 2005 at New Life Hospice Residential Center in Lorain.He was born November 4, 1919 in New Hampshire. He has been a resident of Amherst for the last forty years.
He served in the US Army during World War II in the Ardennes and the Rhineland where he received the Good Conduct Medal, the Victory Medal, the American Theatre Medal, and the European African Middle Eastern Theatre Medal with two bronze stars.
He was employed by General Motors Corp and the Ford Motor Corp. retiring as a foreman.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Amherst and enjoyed league bowling. He was also a member and past president of the Amherst EAgles Aerie #1442, the Amherst Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1662, the Amherst American Legion Post #118, the United Polish Club and the PPAC, both of Lorain.
Survivors include his sister Josephine Cedalis, of Milford, New Hampshire, and his significant other, Jane Enders of Huron and her daughter Judy Hoelzer of Sandusky; and by his guardian and nephew Lloyd Schrader of Amherst.
He was preceded in death by his wife of thirty-six years, Vera Marie Alice Stefaniak (nee: Koepke) on October 24, 1996 and by his parents.
Friends may call Wednesday, May 11, 2005 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Avenue, Amherst where an Amherst Eagles Service will be held at 7 p.m.
Funeral services with the Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard performing honors will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. from the funeral home. The Rev. Walter Kovac, interim pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Amherst will officiate. Burial will be in the Cleveland Avenue, Cemetery, Amherst.
