Robert E. Stevens, 72, Machinist
Robert E. Stevens, 72, of Vermilion, died Monday, May 9, 2005 in New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain after a 2 year illness.He was born September 29, 1932 in Cleveland. He lived in Westlake for 34 years before moving to Vermilion a year and a half ago.
Mr. Stevens was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked as a machinist on the railroad for 36 years and retired from Conrail in 1995. He enjoyed going to the horse track and watching sports on television, especially baseball.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Anne Stevens (nee Faber); 3 daughters, Barbara Buczek of Vermilion, Sandra Sweet of Oberlin, and Lisa Stevens of Dallas, TX; 8 grandchildren, Kelly, Chris and Jodi Neal, Berlyn Buczek, Kayleigh, Julie and Nathan Stevens and Ian Sweet; 2 great grandchildren, Jordan and Jovanni Neal; 2 brothers, Gerald Stevens of Olmsted Twp. and Ted Stevens of Palms Springs, FL, and a sister, Nina Stevens of North Olmsted.
Preceding him in death were his parents, John and Ona (nee Eden) Stevens, 2 brothers, John and Bill Stevens; sister, Phyllis Marling and a son-in-law, Ray Buczek in 1997.
Friends may call Thursday, May 12, 2005 from 1:30 pm until the time of service at 5:30 pm. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion. The Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors.
