Charlotte Mae Ward, 89, Office Manager

Charlotte Mae Ward, 89, a native of the Lorain area, died May 10, 2005, at Autumn Aegis Nursing Center in Lorain.

Miss Ward was born on September 21, 1915, in Elyria. She was a 1933 graduate of Lorain High School.

She was active in many community organizations in Lorain. She was a past Matron of the Queen City Chapter Order of Eastern Star. She served as a Worthy Advisor of Rainbow Assembly No. 8, as its Mother Advisor and later as a District Deputy for the state organization. She was a past president of the Lorain Quota Club and served in offices at the state level of that organization. She was affiliated religiously for many decades with the I AM Activity of the St. Germain Society.

Miss Ward worked for many years as an office manager for her father at Ward Electric Company in Lorain. In the late 1950's, she moved to Alexandria, Virginia where she worked in the administrative office of Alexandria Hospital, for the Department of the Army and for HUD. She retired from HUD in 1978 and moved to Tucson, Arizona and later Albuquerque, NM. She returned to Lorain to be near her family in 2001.

She is survived by her sister, Marguerite Evans of Lorain, two nieces, Betty Rayha of Parma , and Brenda Davenport of Fredericksburg, VA. She is also survived by two great nieces and their children and a great-nephew.

She was the daughter of the late Raymond R. and Ethel (nee Horton) Ward.

A Eastern Star Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 14, 2005 at 11:00 am at Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio 44052.
