Clara Mae Bookmyer, 83, LPN

Clara Mae Bookmyer (nee McVicker), 83 of Amherst, died Thursday, May 12, 2005 in New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain, after a 3-year illness.

She was born May 22, 1921 in Toledo, OH, and had lived in South Amherst and Vermilion, OH, Zephyr Hills, FL, and mostly recently at Golden Acres, Amherst.

She worked as a licensed practical nurse at Allen Medical Center, Oberlin, and Community Health Partners, Lorain. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Vermilion. She participated in golf leagues with CHP and bowling leagues at Lake Erie Lanes, Vermilion. She enjoyed fishing, playing cards, knitting, and crocheting.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas Bookmyer of Sheffield Lake, and Bill Bookmyer of Lorain; daughter, Kathie Gresko of Lorain, four grandsons; and, five great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband Thomas E. Bookmyer in 1993; her parents; son, Jack Bookmyer in 1979; four sisters, Dorothy Noonan, Thelma McGuillen, Evelyn Berger, and Pat Walczak; and, two brothers, Glenn and Walter McVicker.

Friends may call Saturday, May 14, 2005 at the Dombrowski-Volak-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio, from 11 am until the time of service at 1 pm. Rev. Joseph A. Warner, Associate Pastor at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Amherst, will officiate. Interment will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
