Herbert Lewis Barry, 78, Brakeman and Conductor

Herbert Lewis Barry, 78, of Bellevue, died Saturday, May 14, 2005 in St. Charles Hospital, Oregon, Ohio after a short illness.

He was born June 6, 1926 in Lorain, lived in Vermilion from 1957-1988, traveled South for the winters and moved to Bellevue in 1998.

He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during WWII in the Philippines.

He worked as a brakeman and conductor for Lake Terminal Railroad retiring in 1982. He enjoyed fishing, working on mechanical things, playing cards, sports, swimming, gardening and being with friends.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Alice Barry (nee Schmidt); sons, Steven L. Barry of Wellington, Ronald G. Barry of Wakeman, and, Noel A. Barry of Oregon; and 7 grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Herbert John and Amelia L. (nee Whitmore) Barry.

Friends may call Monday from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio.

Services will be held at the Riddle Funeral Home, Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at 11 a.m.The Reverend Joyce Burgess, pastor of the First Church of the Nazarene, Bellevue, will officiate. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.
