Jacob A. Tomazic Jr., 96, Toolmaker

Photo of Jacob A. Tomazic Jr. Jacob A. Tomazic, Jr., 96, of Lorain, died Wednesday May 18, 2005 at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home in Lorain.

He was born July 14, 1908 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

Jacob worked at the Thew Shovel Koehring Division in Lorain as a toolmaker and prior to that had worked at US Steel in Lorain.

He was a member of Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Lorain where he sang in the church choir and was a member of the church Holy Name Society.

Jacob was a member of the Slovenian Club, USWA Local #1104, the Musicians Union, KSKJ Slovenian Lodge #85, SDZ Buckeye Lodge #60 and SNPJ Lodge #781.

Jacob loved music and was a musician with the Lorain Slovenian Button Box Group where he played the accordian and button box. He enjoyed golf and bowling.

He is survived by his daughters Jacqueline Harned of Amherst, Carol Cline of Port Orange, Florida and Francine Arnold of Evansville, Wisconsin, 5 grandchildren, 1 great grandson, brother Richard Tomazic of Lorain, sister Angeline Zgonc of Lorain and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Vera (nee Skander), 2 grandsons, parents Jacob A. Tomazic, Sr. and Frances Tomazic (nee Intihar), brother Rudy Tomazic and sisters Frances Russ, Sophie Pogachar, Elsie Woodings and Jennie Zgonc.

The family will receive friends Friday, May 20, 2005 from 4-8 PM at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where the Parish Rosary will be prayed Friday at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:30 AM in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, 1705 E. 31st St., Lorain. The Rev. Paul Krajnik, pastor, will officiate. Entombment will follow in the Freedom Chapel Mausoleum at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon.
