Frank E. Chapla, 89, Machinist

He was born November 1, 1915 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.
Frank graduated from Lorain High School and then worked at US Steel in Lorain as a machinist for 45 years until retiring.
Frank was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lorain, St. Ann Lodge #114, Jednota, United Polish Club in both Lorain and Elyria, Lorain Eagles, Lorain Moose and the American Slovak Club.
Frank was a member of the Cleveland Polka Association and was an avid polka dancer who enjoyed frequenting many area dances. He enjoyed gardening, making wine and woodworking.
He is survived by his companion of 35 years Ann Malchesky of Elyria, daughter Kathleen Alessio of Avon, son Edward Chapla of Lorain and 2 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents John J. Chapla and Anna Chapla (nee Zuffa), sisters Margaret Felak and Cecelia Stephanchick and brothers John Chapla, Emil Chapla and Joseph Chapla.
The family will receive friends Friday, May 20, 2005, from 5-9 PM at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 AM followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2428 Elyria Ave., Lorain. The Rev. David A. Novak, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
