Charles R. "Dick" Edwards, 73, B.F. Goodrich General Foreman

Mr. Edwards was born June 29, 1931 in Lorain and had been a life-long resident of the city. Dick was a graduate of Lorain High School as a member of the class of 1949. He went on to serve in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict as a Corporal in the infantry. He was the recipient of the Navy Occupation Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Stars.
Mr. Edwards was employed as a general foreman for the B.F. Goodrich Cooperation’s Avon Lake facility; he retired in 1989 following thirty-six years of service with the production company.
A parishioner of Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Lorain, his hobbies included woodworking, all sports, and military history.
Survivors include his wife of fifty years: Nancy (nee Doyle), a son: Richard of Lorain, daughters: Diane Wysocki of Avon and Susan Sulzer of Cleveland, five grandchildren, brothers; William of Grand Blanc, Michigan, and Robert of Lorain, along with a sister: Joanne Pawloski of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Rudolph and Florence (nee Furr) Edwards, and a sister: Darlene Hawk-Morris.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 26,2005 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel 3224 Broadway Lorain. Funeral services will be Friday beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by the celebration of funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church 1305 East Erie Avenue Lorain. The Reverend Joseph West, O.F.M. Conv., pastor of Saint Anthony Parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery Lorain where military rites will be conducted by officers and members of the Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard.
