Donald L. Garber, 71, Little League Baseball manager

He was born July 17, 1933 in Lorain and has been a LaGrange resident for the past year, moving from Vermilion where he resided for 29 years.
Mr. Garber was a veteran of the US Navy and Naval Reserves.
He worked as a chemical engineer for A. Schulman Inc., Akron for 20 years. He had also worked for BF Goodrich for 24 years, and was owner and operator of Specialty Compounders, Vermilion.
He was a former member of the Church of the Open Door, Vermilion Lions Club, and SPE (Society Plastic Engineers). He was a Little League Baseball manager and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Connie (nee Chester) Garber ; daughter, Jody White of LaGrange; son, Ed Garber of Fremont; 5 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; and 2 sisters, Betty Read of Fort Meyers, FL and Dorothy Selstad of Kentucky.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Harry and Alda (nee Moore) Garber, and brother, James Garber.
Friends may call Friday, May 27, 2005 from 4-8 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South St., Vermilion, OH 44089.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. the LaGrange First Baptist Church, 200 Church St., LaGrange 44050. The Reverend Noel Hack, pastor, will be officiating. Burial will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery, Avon.
