Raymond A. Kulas, 64, Community Hospital Carpenter

Raymond A. Kulas, 64, of Lorain, died Thursday May 26, 2005 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain.

He was born August 31, 1940 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

Ray was a graduate of Lorain High School in 1958 and a charter member of the Lorain High Bachelor’s Club. He attended trade school to get his steam operator’s license.

Ray worked at Community Health Partners Hospital in Lorain in the maintenance department as the lead carpenter for 22 years retiring in 2002. Prior to that he worked as a carpenter for several other companies.

He was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain and a past member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lorain. He enjoyed activities with his grandchildren and working crossword puzzles.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years Dolores Kulas (nee Stauffer), son Michael Kulas of Lorain, daughters Michelle Daly of Wellington and Lori Sheriff of Lorain, mother Sophie Kulas (nee Gerron) of Lorain, 6 grandchildren, brothers Leonard Kulas of Lorain and Theodore Kulas of Singapore and sisters Sandra Meade of Amherst and Rosemary Sennhenn of Lorain. He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Kulas and brother Joseph Kulas.

The family will receive friends Saturday, May 28, 2005, from 10:00 AM until the time of funeral services at 1:30 PM at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain.

The mass of Christian Burial will follow on Saturday at 2:00 PM at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 2702 Elyria Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Kevin Shemuga, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
