Alice Sophie Wenzel, 83, Lifetime resident of Amherst

Alice Shophie Wenxel (nee: Linn), 83 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at her home following a lengthy illness.

She was born on November 14, 1921 in Amherst where she had been a lifetime resident.

In addition to being a homemaker, she was employed by the former U.S. Automatic, now Nordson in Amherst for two years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst. Alice enjoyed cooking, baking, quilting, crocheting, knitting, yard work, and wild life.

Survivors include her sons Joseph Paul Wenzel of Milan and William Eugene Wenzel of Legigh Acres, Florida; her daughters Jacqueline Marie Wenzel of Amherst and Mary Louise Wenzel of Sandusky; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and her brother Frank Linn of Lorain.

She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-seven years Paul William Wenzel on October 22, 1993; by her parents Eugene Earl and Mary Louise Linn (nee: Lopatkovich); by her brother Harry Linn; and by her sister Mattie Martin.

A graveside service will be held Friday, June 10, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Cemetery in Amherst. Sister Mary Ann Burke, S.N.D., of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst, will officiate.

Arrangements are being handled by the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst, OH 44001.
