Helen L. �Louise� Willoughby, 73, Active Volunteer

Born January 6, 1932 in Citronelle, Alabama, she was a resident of Lorain from 1952 until moving to Middleburg 4 years ago.
Mrs. Willoughby was employed at the former St. Joseph Hospital as an Administrative Assistant, and retired in 1993 following 15 years of service. She later became an active volunteer at the East Campus of Community Health Partners, and a member of the Community Health Partners Auxiliary.
Helen was a former parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Lorain, and a member of the Marian Guild. After moving to Florida, she volunteered her time with the Orange Park Medical Center Auxiliary and St. Luke’s Catholic Outreach Program which holds fundraisers and sponsors meals for the homeless. She loved to garden and travel with her friends.
Mrs. Willoughby is survived by her daughters: Donna Kovacs of Lorain, Laurie Tyler of Green Cove Springs, Florida, and Paula Gehr of St. Augustine, Florida; son Greg Willoughby of South Amherst; 6 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. Her family included sister: Thelma Simmons of Brandon, Mississippi; and brothers Alfred Givens of Vinegar Bend Alabama, Cecil Givens of Rock Hill, South Carolina, and Robert Givens of Decatur, Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Willoughby in 1996; father Emory Givens in 1990 and her mother Delores (nee Prine) Givens in 2003.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel - 3224 Broadway - Lorain. The Reverend Mr. James Debrason, permanent deacon associated with St. Anthony of Pauda Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
