Michael E. Fekete, 42, Equipment Operator For Operating Engineers Local #18

Photo of Michael E. Fekete Michael E. Fekete, 42, of Lorain, died Tuesday June 7, 2005 at Community Health Partners Hospital in Lorain after a lengthy illness.

He was born November 24, 1962 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident. Michael was a 1981 graduate of Admiral King High School in Lorain where he played basketball and participated in the state tournament.

Michael worked as a heavy equipment operator through the Ohio Operating Engineers Union Local #18 for SE Johnson Company (now the Shelley Company). He was a member of Church on the North Coast in Lorain. He enjoyed landscaping, carpentry and playing pick-up basketball games. He played fast pitch softball in Lorain city leagues playing for UPC, PACC and other teams.

He is survived by his wife of 11 years Anita Fekete (nee Bolen), daughter Emily Fekete at home, mother Susan Fekete (nee Kuhn) of Lorain, sisters Michele Beko of Amherst, Monica Smigel of Avon and Sue Wilson of Lorain and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Emery Fekete in 1971, maternal grandmother Susanna Kuhn, maternal grandfather Michael Kuhn and paternal grandparents Mike and Mary Fekete.

The family will receive friends Thursday 3-8 PM at the Church on the North Coast, 4125 Leavitt Road in Lorain where funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 AM. The Rev. Louis Kayatin, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
