Mary R. Novak, 92, Member of Slovak Catholic Sokols Wreath #111
Mary R. Novak (nee Reber), 92, of Lorain, died Thursday June 16, 2005 at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain.She was born May 3, 1913 in Colver, Pennsylvania and had resided in Lorain most of her life. Mary was a graduate of Lorain High School class of 1931B.
Mary was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lorain and the church Altar & Rosary Society, Ladies Guild and Holy Trinity Seniors. She was a member of Slovak Catholic Sokols Wreath #111 and enjoyed her home and family.
She is survived by her daughters Mary Jean Firca of Vernon Hills, Illinois and Betty Ann Blakley of Vermilion; son Donald J. Novak of Frederick, Maryland; 5 grandchildren; 2 stepgrandchildren; and sisters Helen Urbanic and Sue Tomazic, both of Lorain.
She was preceded in death by her husband John D. Novak on January 22, 1988; parents Peter Reber and Anna Reber (nee Spisak); grandson David Firca; sister Anna Bonk; and brothers John Reber, Andrew Reber, Joseph Reber, Steven Reber and Peter Reber.
The family will receive friends Sunday 2-7 PM at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain, where the Holy Trinity Altar & Rosary Society will pray the rosary Sunday at 3:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9:30 AM in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2428 Elyria Ave., Lorain. The Rev. David A. Novak, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
