John C. Hartman, 71, Former Vermilion Resident

Photo of John C. Hartman John C. Hartman, age 71, of Huron, died Friday, June 24, 2005 at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation following a short illness.

He was born on June 24, 1934 in Lebanon, Pennsylvania and had lived in Huron since 1996. He had previously lived in Vermilion for over 50 years.

He worked as a tool & die maker for General Motors Fisher Guide Plant in Elyria for 29 years, retiring in 1993.

He was ordained as a Permanent Deacon and served the parish of St. Mary Catholic Church in Vermilion for 22 years. In June 2001 he was ordained as a Priest of the Primitive Episcopal Church.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, serving as past Grand Knight and past District Deputy. He was also a volunteer for the Lorain County Rape Crisis Center.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia (nee Koller) Hartman of Huron; sons, Paul Michael Hartman of White Lake, Michigan and John Patrick Hartman of Hartford City, Indiana; daughter, Lynn Ann Shaw of Greenville, South Carolina; 11 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; half sister, Kathryn Kosier of Averton, Ohio; half brother, Michael Hartman of Averton, Ohio; brother, Lawrence Hartman.

Preceding him in death were his parents, John H. and Lucy (nee Craun) Hartman.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 28, 2005 from 5-9 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2005 at 11:00 am.

Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
