Helen Elizabeth Grimmett, 78, Lifelong Area Resident

She was born September 5, 1926 in Elyria, Ohio and has been a lifelong area resident.
Mrs. Grimmett was a cashier for Kroger's Grocery Store in Vermilion and retired after 32 years in 1985. She was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed gardening, quilting, and collecting Barbie Dolls, Precious Moments, and Longaberger Baskets.
Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Bernard M. Grimmett; 2 daughters: Darlene Werner (Mrs. Terry Werner) of Vermilion and Nancy Brothers (Mrs. Jerry Brothers) of Wakeman; and 2 grandaughters, Robin (Santucci) Al-Marrid of Findley and Allicson (Werner) Tristan of Erie, PA.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Alex and Elizabeth (nee Karnai) Sabo; 2 brothers, Joseph and Alex Sabo, and sister, Julia Elizabeth . Her youngest brother, Joseph Sabo, was killed during the war and is buried in Puchbowl National Cemetery in Honolulu, Hawaii.
A private ceremony is planned for July 6, 2005 with her immediate family to celebrate her life, which included her honorary high school diploma (Class of 1944) from Elyria High School.
