Elizabeth Regina Sharpnack, 90, Enjoyed Gardening and Flowers

Photo of Elizabeth Regina Sharpnack Elizabeth Regina (nee Rice) Sharpnack, 90, of Vermilion, died Monday, July 18, 2005 in Kingston of Vermilion after a lengthy illness.

She was born February 11, 1915 in Breman, Ohio. She had lived in New Castle, PA, Youngstown, Columbia Station, Mt. Gilead, Olmsted Falls and moved to Vermilion in 1949. She wintered at River Bend in Tequesta FL for 14 years.

She received her degree as a registered nurse at Olney, IL and worked as a nurse at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. She was a member of Plum Brook Country Club, St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion, where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society, the Vermilion Boat Club, and the Audubon Society. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, birds, riding bicycles and golf. She was a member of the YMCA and was active in water aerobics.

She is survived by husband of 67 years, Joseph Ralph Sharpnack, Sr.; 2 sons, Joseph Ralph Sharpnack, Jr. of Vermilion and Thomas Sharpnack of Willard; 4 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Carl and Bertha (nee Nix) Rice; her son, Frederick Carl Sharpnack, August 4, 1993; brothers, Charles, James and John Rice.

Private burial will be Wednesday at Brownhelm Cemetery, Vermilion. A memorial mass will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2005 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion. Father Pill Feltman will officiate.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Vermilion Food Pantry, P.O. Box 228, Vermilion, Ohio 44089.
