Teresa M. Conklin-Gerrick, 89, Retired Lorain High School Teacher's Aide

Teresa M. Conklin-Gerrick (nee Gallo) age 89, of Lorain, died Monday July 18, 2005 while in the company of her grandchildren at Autumn Aegis Nursing Home following a five month illness.

Teresa was born December 19, 1915 in Lorain and had been a life-long resident of the city.

A 1934 graduate of Lorain High School, Mrs. Conklin-Gerrick was formerly employed by the American Stove Works and later as a teacher’s aide for the Lorain Public School System where she fulfilled assignments at Lorain High School.

A parishioner of the Catholic Church of Saint Peter in Lorain, she was a member of the Saint Peter Senior’s organization. A long-time volunteer at the former Lorain Community Hospital, she was accomplished in all forms of needlework including crocheting, knitting, and embroidery. She also enjoyed reading with a special preference for romantic novels authored by Danielle Steele. Additional interests included going to the movies, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include grandchildren Sandra Salata, Grant Salata, and Dina Kolster of Lorain, Danielle Amato of Saint George, Utah, and great grandchildren Jessica Salata, Nicole Niskey, Jerrald Mollohan, Michael Kolster, Theresa Kolster, Gabriella Salata, and Matthew Amato.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Charles Conklin in 1965, by her second husband Peter J. Gerrick in 1979, by her daughter Cheryl Kathleen “Kathy: Salata in 2001, by her parents Thomas and Mary Rose (nee Fillipone) Gallo, and by a brother Sam Gallo in 2000.

Visitation will be Thursday from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel – 3224 Broadway – Lorain. Funeral services will be Friday beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by the celebration of funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. in the Catholic Church of Saint Peter – 3501 Oberlin Avenue – Lorain. The Reverend Kenneth Wolnowski, pastor of the parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery – Lorain
