Florence M. Blazina, 82, Homemaker & Volunteer

She was born August 7, 1922 in Chicago, Illinois where she graduated from the Bryant & Stratton Business School and worked at Montgomery Ward. In 1945, she moved to San Diego to marry her fiance who was serving in the US Navy. During her husband’s enlistment she worked as a government secretary. Following World War II she and her husband moved to Lorain.
Florence was an active member and officer of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Polish Legion of American Veterans Post #38 and the Black River Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a volunteer at St. Joseph Hospital in Lorain for 11 years. She was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain and a past member of St. Vitus Catholic Church and St. Mary Catholic Church both of Lorain.
She enjoyed baking cookies and taking care of her family, especially the grandchildren.
Florence is survived by her daughter Margaret Wyse of Springfield, Virginia; sons Charles M. Blazina, Jr. of Lorain, and Brian J. Blazina of Naperville, Illinois; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; brother Leonard Klarich of Terra Haute, Indiana; and several cousins in Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles M. Blazina Sr., on July 8, 1989; and parents Marin and Margaret (nee Ursic) Klarich.
The family will receive friends Thursday 7-9 PM at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where the PLAV #38 Ladies Auxiliary will conduct a memorial service on Thursday. Funeral services will be held Friday at 9:30 AM in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Kenneth Wolnowski, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
