Wallace "Wally" ("Poppy") Schrenkel, 79, Lifelong Lorain Resident

Wallace "Wally" ("Poppy") G. Schrenkel, 79 of Lorain, died Tuesday, July 26, 2005 in Community Health Partners West.
He was born July 14, 1926 in Lorain and was a lifelong resident.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He worked as a truck driver for U.S. Steel for 37 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of Catholic Church of St. Peter, Lorain, and American Legion Post #30, Lorain. He enjoyed bingo, gambling in Las Vegas, and his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Shirley Schrenkel (nee Glover); daughters, Sharon Flores of Lorain, Cheryl Farsetti of Lorain, and, Shelley Engelhardt of Stow; sons, Wallace "Wally" Schrenkel, Jr. and James Schrenkel both of Lorain; 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; and sister, Ruth Lucey of Lorain.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Gust and Agnes (nee Nowicki) Schrenkel; granddaughter, Kelly Farsetti and great granddaughter, Alyssa Beaver.
Friends may call Friday, July 29, 2005 from 7-9 pm at the Dombrowski-Humphrey-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio.
Prayers will be said at the funeral home on Saturday, July 30, at 9 am with a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30 am at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. Reverend Chuck Henkle, Associate Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
