Eleanor F. Barlow, 78, Saint John Roman Catholic Church Parishioner

Eleanor F. Barlow, (nee Wisniewski) age 78, of Lorain, died Wednesday July 27, 2005 at the New Life Hospice Center of Saint Joseph following an extended illness.

Mrs. Barlow was born October 4, 1926 in Lorain and had been a life-long resident of the city.

A parishioner of Saint John Roman Catholic Church, she was previously employed as a clerk for the City Cigar Store as well as the S & J Market. Most recently she had served as a barmaid at the Cavalier Tavern.

Eleanor’s hobbies included fishing, solving word puzzles, and working with jigsaw puzzles.

She is survived by her sons James A. Songer of Lorain, Joseph J. Songer of Amherst, and Gary Barlow of Lorain; daughter Barbara Sanchez of Ridgefield, New Jersey; ten grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; sister Mary Layne of Lorain; and brothers Edward and Joseph Wisniewski both of Lorain.

She was preceded in death by her husband James R. Barlow in 1972; by a granddaughter Nicole Barlow in 2002; and by her parents Joseph and Helen (nee Maganska) Wisniewski.

Visitation will be Saturday from 7:00 p.m. until time of funeral services at 9:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel – 3224 Broadway – Lorain. The Reverend Thomas Smith, pastor of Saint John Roman Catholic Church will officiate.

The family suggests memorials in Eleanor’s memory to either the American Cancer Society – 43099 North Ridge Road – Elyria, Ohio 44035 or to the CHP Regional Foundation/New Life Hospice – 3700 Kolbe Road – Lorain, Ohio 44053.
