Dorothy Elizabeth Stevenson, 75, Born in Amherst
Dorothy Elizabeth Stevenson (nee: Frederick), 75 years of age, and a resident of Westlake, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2005 at Bradley Bay Health Center in Bay Village following a brief illness.She was born on September 20, 1929 in Amherst where she was raised. She had been a resident of Westlake since the 1950s.
She was a former member of Grace Baptist Church in Westlake. Dorothy was a homemaker who enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, crocheting, and needle point.
Survivors include her sons Chester C. Stevenson of Oregon, Richard A. Stevenson of Westlake; her daughters Sandra Kure of Clinton, Ohio, Judy McMillan of Lawrenceville, Georgia, and Sharon Foote of Lakewood; four grandchildren; her brothers Raymond Frederick of Uniontown, Ohio and Edward Frederick of Santa Maria, California; and sister Jennie Whittemore of Plymouth, Massachusetts.
She was preceded in death by her husband of twenty-one years Chester Carl Stevenson on July 15, 1971; by her son James Stevenson on January 18, 1995; by her parents George and Verna Frederick (nee: Rodgers); by her brothers Walter and Melvin Frederick; and by her sisters Ethel Warner, Marie Burk, and Kathleen Mead.
Friends may call Thursday from 7 - 9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 5, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. from the funeral home. The Rev. Thomas K. Fryman, pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Massillon, Ohio, will officiate. Burial will be in Crownhill Cemetery, Amherst, Ohio.
