Mary Mikolanda, 96

Mary Mikolanda, (nee Krosky), age 96, of Lorain, died Friday, August 5, 2005 at the New Life Hospice Center of Saint Joseph following an extended illness.

Mrs. Mikolanda was born June 19, 1909 in Pittsburgh, PA and had been a resident of Lorain since her childhood.

Mary was an active member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Lorain where she was a member of the Women’s Circle and the Grandmother’s Club. She also served as a volunteer with the church’s Meals-on-Wheels Program.

For more than ten years she had been employed as a seamstress with the Richman Brothers Clothing Company.

Her hobbies included bingo and playing cards.

Survivors include her son, Glen O. Mikolanda of Lorain, Marcia Collins also of Lorain, five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, sisters, Helen Vengeloff of St. Petersburg, FL, Doris Kerekes of North Port, FL and a brother Raymond Krosky of Lorain.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1987, by sisters Jay Sabota and Kathleen “Kay” Kovacs, and by brothers John and Mike Krosky.

Friend may call Wednesday, August 10, 2005 from 10:30 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11:30 a.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain. The Reverend Jimmy W. Madsen, co-pastor of First Evangelical Church in Lorain will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.

The family encourages memorial contributions in Mrs. Mikolanda’s name to First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 603 Washington Avenue, Lorain, Ohio 44052.
