Jean F. Chopcinski, 79, Co-proprietor and bookkeeper - Gene's Floor Covering
Jean F. Chopcinski (nee Scislowski), age 79, of Lorain, died Friday August 5, 2005 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center while under the care of New Life Hospice. Mrs. Chopcinski was born September 19, 1925 in Lorain and had been a life-long resident of the city.She was a graduate of Lorain High School and had been previously employed as an assembler at the Nelson-Stud Division of T.R.W. Company; for more than thirty years she assisted her husband as co-proprietor and bookkeeper at Gene’s Floor Covering in central Lorain.
Jean was an active and loyal parishioner of Saint Stanislaus Catholic Church where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Altar & Rosary Society.
A member of the Polish Fisherman’s Club, her hobbies included ceramics, quilting, and china painting.
Survivors include sons Ken of Pensacola, Florida, Gary of North Ridgeville, David of Lorain, daughters Delores Sue Bialorucki of Perkins Township and Diane Atherton of Bradner, Ohio, eleven-plus grandchildren, brother Joseph Sislowski of Lorain, and sister Theresa Kalo of Mentor.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gene in 1994, by her parents: Steve and Anna Scislowski, a great grandson Christopher Hvidos, by sisters Ann Emerich and Louise Turton, and by brothers Andrew, Steve, Benjamin, Frank, and Ted.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel 3224 Broadway Avenue Lorain where officers and members of the Saint Stanislaus Altar & Rosary Society will recite the rosary at 3:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by the celebration of her funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Stanislaus Catholic Church 2702 Elyria Avenue. The Reverend Kevin C. Shemuga, pastor of Saint Stanislaus and permanent deacon Reverend Mr. William Schill will co-officiate. Private burial will be in Calvary Cemetery Lorain.
