Mary L. Sinko, 97, Avid Walker
Mary L. Sinko (nee Zore), age 97 of Lorain, died Wednesday August 10, 2005 at Avon Oaks Nursing Home following a brief illness.Mrs. Sinko was born February 17, 1908 in Lorain and had been a life-long resident of the city.
Earlier in her life she had been employed as a molder at General Industries of Elyria; she had also been previously employed in cafeteria services for the National Tube Company (predecessor to U.S. Steel).
An accomplished gardener, walking enthusiast, and avid reader, she was a past member of the K.S.K.J. Slovenian Fraternal Lodge.
Survivors include daughters Janet Sinko of Elyria and Eileen McCrone of Amherst, grandsons David & Joseph McCrone, and a sister Ann Zore residing in Lorain.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph in 2003, by a grandson Bryan McCrone in 1986, by her parents Joseph and Frances (nee Piskur) Zore, by brothers Frank, Joseph, and John, and by sisters Frances Novak, Johanna Beck, Rose Zore, and Josephine Novak.
Visitation will be Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel 3224 Broadway Lorain. Reverend Mr. John Slatcoff, permanent deacon representing St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Elyria Township will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery Lorain, Ohio.
