Thelma Alverna Kress, 85, Enjoyed Visiting Grandchildren

Thelma Alverna Kress (nee Meeks), 85, of West Newton, PA passed away Saturday, August 20, 2005 at Community Health Partners Hospital West, Lorain after a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Kress was born August 27, 1919 in Canton, OH and was raised in Washington, PA. She lived in Elizabeth, PA from 1948 to 1960 and resided in West Newton since 1960.

She was employed by the Duncan Miller Glass Works in Washington, PA for four years.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in West Newton, PA. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, shopping, word search and word jumble puzzles, and watching television. She loved caring for her family, visiting grandchildren and family picnics. She also loved dining out with family and friends.

She is survived by her sons, Edward Kress of Panama City, FL, Ronald Runion of Wellington, Frank Kress III of Scottdale, PA, daughters, Linda Ritenaur of Lorain, Marianne Gnagy of Vermilion, 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren, brothers Earl Meeks of Washington, PA, Bill Meeks of Washington, PA and Richard Meeks of Elyria, sister, Hazel Lou Mayne of Washington, PA.

Mrs. Kress was preceded in death by husband, Frank Kress in 1983, son, Richard Runion in 2000, grandson Timothy in 1966, parents, John and Hazel (Gray) Meeks, brother, Jay Meeks and sister Betty McClure.

Friends may visit on Wednesday, August 24, 2005 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Reichlin-Cooley Funeral Home, 2920 Broadway, Lorain. Additional visitation and funeral service3s will be held at William J. McCauley Funeral Home, 901 Vine Street, West Newton, PA. Burial will take place at Jefferson Memorial Park in Pleasant Hills, PA.
