Loyd A. Horton, 84, Enjoyed Fishing
Loyd A. Horton, 84 years of age, formerly of Elyria, and a resident of North Ridgeville, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2006 at Grace Hospital in Amherst following a lengthy illness.He was born June 13, 1921 in Boonville, Mississippi where he was raised. Elyria has been his home since 1951 before moving to North Ridgeville in May 2004.
He was employed at Lorain Plant of Ford Motor Assembly for twenty-nine years, retiring in 1983 as a material inspector. He was a member of Elyria Baptist Church where he served as an usher. Loyd enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his wife Shirley B. Horton (nee: Johnson); and his brothers Floyd R. Horton of South Amherst, Robert Horton of Santa Clara, California and William T. Horton of North Hollywood, California.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Molly Rice and Jean Zander; and by his parents Henry M. and Maudie I. Horton (nee: Harber).
Friends may call Sunday, August 29, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Avenue, Amherst. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. from the funeral home. The Rev. Charles Leininger, associate pastor of Elyria Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
