Oswald "Ozzie" Kelm, 80, Enjoyed Mechanical Work & Gardening

Oswald "Ozzie" Kelm, 80, of Vermilion, died Thursday, August 25, 2005 in Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky, after a lengthy illness.

He was born August 22, 1925 in Amherst, Ohio and has been a life long Vermilion resident.

He was a WWII Veteran serving with the US Marine Corp.

He was the union stewart at E and L Transport, Lorain and retired in 1989 as the Union President of Teamsters Local 964. He had also worked as a welder for American Ship, was a diesel mechanic, and enjoyed farming.

Mr. Kelm was a member of the Vermilion United Church of Christ Congregational. He was also a member of the AMVETS Post #22, American Legion #397, and he was the founder and 1st Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 7576. He was also a member of the Madeline Chapter of the Eastern Star #204 EOS, Mason Ely Lodge # 424, and Shriners Zenobia Temple. He enjoyed gardening, doing mechanical work on cars and raising boxer dogs.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jeanann (nee Horvath), 2 daughters, Debrah Wiggins of Sheffield Lake, and Roberta "Robin" Kelm of Vermilion; a sister, Marge Waldron of Wakeman, granddaughter, Emmilee Wiggins of Sheffield Lake, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, August and Alvina (nee Miller) Kelm, 3 brothers, Herbie, Awalt, and Arthur "Art" Kelm, and a sister, Erma Milliser.

Friends may call Saturday, August 27, 2005 from 7-9 pm and Sunday, August 28, 2005 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. A Masonic service will be held at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Services will be held at the Riddle Funeral Home, Monday, August 29, 2005 at 11:00 a.m., with Thomas Leonhardt, officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery where the Vermilion Veterans council will conduct military honors.
