Lynn ''Smitty'' Allen Smith, 58, Diesel Mechanic and Welder
Lynn “Smitty” Allen Smith, 58 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Saturday, August 27, 2005 at Community Health Partners H & S. Center in Lorain following a brief illness.He was born February 16, 1947 in Cleveland, Ohio. He was raised in Wellington and lived in Berlin Heights and Lorain before moving to Amherst in 1991.
“Smitty” was employed by E & L Transport in Lorain for nineteen years, taking medical retirement in 2005 as a diesel mechanic and welder. He enjoyed scuba diving and was a sports fan.
Survivors include his wife of nineteen years, Judy Kay Smith (nee: Shawver); his daughters Christina Norris of Youngstown and Heather Cromwell of Berlin Heights; four grandchildren; and his brother Bryan Smith of Homerville, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his father Charles Smith; and by his mother and stepfather Clara Mae and Russell Buck (nee: Eddy).
Friends may call Tuesday, August 30, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Avenue, Amherst. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. from the funeral home. The Rev. James Greenawalt will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
