Therese M. Leska, 88, St. Joseph Employee Credit Union Manager
Therese M. Leska (nee Sloboda), age 88, of Lorain, died Monday August 29, 2005 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center following a brief illness. Mrs. Leska was born on April 1, 1917 in Lorain and had been a life-long resident of the city.She attended Holy Trinity Parish School and was a graduate of Lorain High School.
She was employed as the manager of the Saint Joseph Hospital Credit Union for many years. She had previously been employed as a bookkeeper for the Wayne Furniture Company of Lorain and had also served in the accounting department for the Sears and Roebuck Company.
Therese was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lorain ; she was also a member of the Holy Trinity Altar and Rosary Society as well as Wreath # 111 of the Slovak Catholic Sokols. Her hobbies included crocheting, making afghans, and solving crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed taking trips to Las Vegas.
She is survived by her daughter Mary Cookie Miller of Vermilion. Mrs. Leska was preceded in death by her husband Joseph in 1991, by her parents Dominik and Frances (nee Karovic) Sloboda, and by brothers Edward and Joseph Sloboda.
Visitation will be Friday, September 2, 2005 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel 3224 Broadway Avenue Lorain where the rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m. by officers and members of the Holy Trinity Altar & Rosary Society. Funeral services will be Saturday beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by the celebration of her funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Trinity Catholic Church 2428 Elyria Avenue Lorain. The Reverend David A. Novak, pastor of Holy Trinity Church will serve as the principal celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery Lorain.
